Drones, virtual reality (VR), and headphones were the hot topics which drew crowds in the Korea IT Accessory & Smart Device Tradeshow held at COEX, located in Gangnam district of Seoul.
KITAS is an annual exhibition specialized in mobile accessories and smart devices. The trade show opened on July 28th and is scheduled for three days.
VR booth drew the most crowds. People waited in long lines to experience the latest technology which the world has its eyes on.
“I’ve never experienced anything like this,” said a Busan University student Oh Young-hoo, “It felt as if I was actually moving!” Oh and three other colleagues experienced VR for the first time in their life at KITAS. Hong In-jae, who sat next to Oh during the VR experience said: “The story was better than I have expected! I was so immersed in it. I wish to go for another ride.”
Headphone and audio companies’ booths also attracted a lot of people. Jung Gyu-min, who introduced himself as a hi-fi mania, said: “A lot more people are showing interest in audio devices than before. Some people say it’s because everyone carries a music device with them all the time. The music devices are smartphones.”
Jung said he came to the KITAS to get information about upcoming headphones and other audio devices.
Drones also received a lot of attention. Parents brought children who are currently in summer holidays. Kim Hyung-joo, a freelance architect, brought his 13-year old son. “I wanted to buy a drone for my son from a few years ago,” said Kim. “Now the price has gotten so cheap, even the ones with decent features are affordable. KITAS is a good place to get information and buy the latest drones.”
