South Korean police on Friday arrested the first woman who sued disgraced star Yoochun of raping her in the bathroom of a private membership bar.
The woman has dropped her rape suit, but police accused her of committing calumny and trying to blackmail Yoochun of his money. Her cousin was also arrested on charges of attempting to blackmail.
Yoochun, who started his mandatory military service last August as a public service worker in Seoul's Gangnam district, has been cleared of rape allegations but he faces charges of buying sex. He was also accused of fraud because he did not keep his promise to give money after having sex.
The scandal has sparked rampant speculation since it surfaced on June 14. Four women sued Yoochun of raping them, but police could not find any evidence related to forced sexual relations. Two of them will stand trial on libel charges.
