Samsung Mobile Netherlands' Facebook page revealed that the company's flagship tablet "Galaxy Tab S" lineup will no longer get Android OS updates. This is not the first time the South Korean tech giant prematurely ended OS updates for its tablets and users are not happy about it.

Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 are the models left out from OS updates to Android 6.0, Marshmallow. Although Samsung did not officially admit, it stopped releasing OS update support for Galaxy Tab Pro models a few years ago. The same applied to Samsung's previous tablet models.

"This is why I stopped using Samsung's tablet since it stopped OS updates for Galaxy Tab Pro," wrote a user named "Bonghwasanbandalgom", onto a freeboard in Clien, an online tech community. "Samsung should learn from Apple. iPads get OS update to a point where the hardware cannot support the new OS," the user added.

Another user called Seungminappa sneered at Samsung's policy. "You did not expect Samsung to continue supporting the OS updates, did you?."

Because Samsung is notorious for being unsupportive for its tablet users, Galaxy Tab users have turned to a third party to get their tablet OS updated. There are a handful of online forums and communities which develop up-to-date OS for left-behind tablet models such as Samsung's.

The third party's OS updates are released for free, but the update process is rather complicated, making it a hard journey for who are not familiar with smart devices tinkering.
