Samsung's Bluetooth speaker "Scoop" has come out of the veils this week through documents released by the US Federal Communications Commission.

According to US business magazine Forbes, the tech giant's new wireless speaker may well become a strong counterpart to Amazon's "Echo", a speaker device with voice recognition ability which connects a user to a home network environment.

Amazon's Echo was released in December 2014 and brought a positive feedback from consumers. Users can interact with the speaker by talking to it. Echo is capable of controlling other connected devices at home or any designated network, music playback, creating to-do lists, setting alarms and stream podcasts. It also provides information on weather and real-time traffic.

Although the documents released by the FCC gave little tips about Scoop's voice activation feature, Forbes speculated that Samsung's gadget could be a next Echo competitor: "While the user’s manual does not explicitly describe voice activation, speculation abounds that this could be the next Echo competitor because images show the Scoop as featuring a microphone."

"The microphone could mean that the Scoop will feature voice activation, and the device’s more advanced features just aren’t detailed in the initial manual. But it could also indicate more basic capabilities, like being able to answer and talk on your phone via Bluetooth," Forbes said.

However, since information about what Scoop can do really  and when it would be released is still under the veil, consumers will have to wait until Samsung officially releases news about Scoop or when it makes a sudden appearance in the market.
