South Korea's state-run Korea Electric Power Corp. said Tuesday it has clinched a 39 million US dollar deal to build a power distribution network in the Dominican Republic.

Under the deal signed with Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Eléctricas Estatales (CDEEE), a state power company, KEPCO said it would replace 7,102 electric poles and 1,496 transformers as well as some 2,200 kilometers (1,367 miles) of power lines across the Caribbean country.

Small and medium-sized South Korean companies will take part in the project to ship products worth about 10 billion won ($8.9 million).  KEPCO has been involved in a series of power projects in the Dominican Republic to earn a total of $90 million so far.
