Japan's Nissan Motor has been ordered to recall 7,574 vehicles sold in South Korea for a software defect in air bags in the latest of a series of recalls involving foreign cars this year, transport authorities said Monday.

Nissan vehicles to be recalled include Q50 sedans, QX60 crossover SUVs, Pathfinder SUVs and Leaf compact hatchbacks, which were produced between June 5, 2013, and April 21, 2016, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

German luxury brand Mercedes-Benz Korea will recall 1,095 C200 BLUETECs produced between December 18, 2013, and April 4, 2016, due to a possible problem in fuel hoses, the ministry said.

In June, Nissan was ordered to recall its Qashqai compact diesel crossover vehicles for using a defeat device to lie on emissions results.  Prosecutors have conducted a criminal probe into Nissan Korea chief Takehiko Kikuchi. The Japanese company controls 2.46 percent of imported cars in South Korea.

South Korea has conducted an extensive probe into foreign cars following a scandal involving German carmaker Volkswagen accused of faking emissions results.
