South Korea's LG Electronics released the price for its new flagship smartphone V20 that will hit the market this month, sparking worries among fans about its success.

The country's second largest smartphone maker said the V20 would roll out on September 29 for 899,800 won (802 US dollars). It's rare for smartphone makers to disclose the price of new products before their release, but LG did it in a confident manner.

The V20 is 100,100 won expensive than its predecessor V10 released last year, and 63,800 won expensive than G5 released earlier this year. Both failed to make success in the South Korean market.

Samsung's flagships Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7 smartphones are priced at 836,000 won and 988,900 won respectively. The Note 7 is currently undergoing a global recall due to a series of explosions caused by faulty batteries. The first explosion was reported in South Korea at the last week of August. Samsung halted sales and announced the global recall on September 2.

Despite LG's confidence, tech fans are already showing concerns over V20's price. "Even though the V20 is a little cheaper than Samsung's and Apple's, it's still not very attractive," said "FFnavi", a tech community user.

Another user claimed LG should lower the price a little more. "This is the perfect chance for LG to increase its share in the smartphone market while Samsung's sales remain sluggish," said Postbox. "With that price, LG would never gain its market share."
