Samsung to urge US Note 7 users to stop using smartphones

Samsung Electronics will alert the users of its Galaxy Note 7 in the United States with safety warnings, urging them to power down and visit retailers and carriers to exchange their devices for new Note 7 smartphones with safe batteries.

The South Korean tech giant pledged a global recall earlier this month after consumers reported battery explosions.

Samsung plans to deliver firmware updates in a few days to all Note 7s. and its safety notice will be displayed when Note 7s with faulty batteries are plugged into chargers or powered on.

The notice will read as written below:

Your safety is our highest priority.
Power down and stop using this phone. The battery may overheat posing a fire or burn risk.

The replaced Galaxy Note 7s will display a green battery icon instead of the previous grey icon on the notification bar located at the top of the screen.
