New budget smartphones from Chinese tech giant Huawei will be unveiled in South Korea this week through a domestic mobile carrier, reflecting the popularity of low-cost Chinese gadgets in a country dominated by high-end technology products.

South Korea's third-largest mobile carrier LG U+ said the "Huawei H" priced at 242,000 won (217 US dollars) would be released on Thursday. The South Korean partner has already released Huawei's X3 and Nexus 6P, co-manufactured with Google.

While most smartphones released in South Korea are high priced, normally ranging from 600,000 won to 1,000,000 won, Huawei's targets the low-priced budget smartphone market, competing with Huawei's Y6 (154,000 won), LG's K10 (275,000 won) and Alcatel's SOL (399,300 won).

Huawei's budget device would be ideal for users who are not fussy about Samsung Electronics' and other expensive latest models. The Huawei H features reasonable specifications such as a 5.5 HD display, a 3,000mAh battery, a 1,300-megapixel rear camera, and an 800-megapixel front-facing camera.
