Google's long-awaited virtual reality headset "Daydream" unveiled at its "Made by Google" presentation will bring Harry Potter to the world of VR.
Daydream can go with Google's new "Pixel" smartphones like Samsung's "Gear VR" headset. But Google's VR headset has a remote controller, allowing wearers to navigate through the VR world. In the "Fantastic Beasts": a Harry Potter franchise by Warner Bros., the controller becomes a magic wand and users can wave it around.
Another noticeable characteristic feature is Daydream's body covered with fabric. It comes in three colors -- Snow, Slate, and Crimson -- to provide better ventilation and feel when worn. Other VR headsets share the same problem as the lens fog up with moisture caught in the body.
To provide unique apps, Google will team up with over 50 partners including Netflix, HBO, and Hulu. The tech giant will also create special editions of YouTube, Google Photos, Street View just for Daydream.
Google is among a few smartphone makers to manufacture VR headsets using smartphones as their display and a processing unit. Daydream is the first official smartphone VR headset with a remote controller.
