Chinese drone giant DJI released its new foldable drone called "Mavic Pro" Wednesday, buoyed by the successful opening of its first overseas outlet in South Korea seven months ago.

Mavic Pro can be folded into the size of a small notebook and weighs 744 grams (1.64 pounds). It can be carried around in a small backpack. This is a huge advantage when compared to other professional drones which need suitcase-sized carrying bags.

The new drone comes with a small gimbal camera and can fly at a speed of up to 65 kilometers (40 miles) per hour. Gimbal is a connecting device which prevents a camera from shaking and enables users to film clear images even in flight.

DJI's latest drone is priced at 1,230,000 won (1,100 US dollars), which is nearly half of the price of its flagship drone "Phantom 4".

Since its first store opened in Seoul in March, the Chinese company has dominated South Korea's drone market. It has also released a series of action cameras with built-in gimbals.

Currently, there's no South Korean rival that could match DJI's drones or gimbal-fitted action cameras. It's mainly because South Korean drone makers hesitate to jump into the market due to restrictions. South Korea bans drone flights in crowded urban areas and near military bases for the sake of privacy and safety.
