Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co. has secured an 850 million US dollar order to build two coal-fired thermal power plants in the Philippines.
Under the deal with Redondo Peninsula Energy Inc., Doosan Heavy said it would begin the construction of a 300-megawatt power plant this year and the second one next year in a place some 130 kilometers (80 miles) northwest of Manila.
Doosan Heavy, a construction arm of South Korea's Doosan Group, said it would use its new environment-friendly CFB (circulating fluidized bed) technology to reduce pollutant emissions in building the plants.
Last week a consortium of Doosan Heavy and French electric utility company Engie secured an order worth $896 million for the construction of a thermal power plant in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi plant would be built in a gas complex 85 kilometers (53 miles) northwest of Jubail by November 2019.
