Metallica, one of the world's most famous heavy metal bands, will hold a concert  in January next year in Seoul, the first leg of the group's Asia tour "Hardwired… to Self-destruct", organizers said Tuesday.

The concert will be held at Seoul's Gocheok Skydome Stadium on January 11.  AEG, a local agency, said that a huge LED screen, 28 meters wide and nine meters long, would be installed in the middle of the stage as well as special speakers to provide "a full live concert audio experience".

The legendary American band has accumulated over 100 thousand audiences in its concerts in South Korea. Fans here have surprised the band at  previous concerts by singing along every track played, even the instrumental parts.

Metallica, formed in 1981, has released nine official albums so far and received Grammy Awards eight times. The four-member band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
