BTS 'Wings' sets new Billboard record as K-pop album

Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, has set a record in South Korea's music history with its new album "Wings" standing at No. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Billboard said BTS's new album is flying high above all previous K-pop records, standing at No. 26 on its 200 chart in the week ending Oct. 13 that marked the best week ever for a K-pop album. Previously, 2NE1's Crush held the highest chart rank for a K-pop act at No. 61.

Since its debut, the seven-member act has stood out in the K-pop scene for tackling social and society issues in their music."Wings" has generated an explosive response in South Korea, China and other countries.

Now, BTS became the first K-pop act to log three entries on the Billboard 200. To date, less than a dozen K-pop acts have sent albums to the Billboard 200.
