South Korea's fifth-largest conglomerate, Lotte Group has jumped into Vietnam's e-commerce market by launching a website "Lotte.vn" and a smartphone application for the company's online open market.

"Online market in Vietnam is expanding fast and has great potential," Seo Tae-ho, Lotte's head of Vietnam branch, said. "We will provide high-quality products through Lotte.vn while opening a trade route for South Korean small and mid- sized companies."

Lotte's open market houses subsidiaries such as Lotte Department Store, Lotte Homeshopping, and Lotte Mart, along with 500 local sellers to meet the various needs of Vietnamese consumers. The company took great care in strengthening a lineup of fashion and cosmetics products by using its distribution network.

South Korean cosmetics brands such as The Face Shop and Laneige were introduced on the open market along with bestsellers -- Lancome, Kiehls and Shiseido.

Lotte also adopted a special delivery system aimed at delivering packages to customers within 24 hours of purchase. Currently, the system only works in Ho Chi Minh but the company plans to expand its special delivery service to five other cities -- Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho and Haiphong.

Lotte plans to expand the number of sellers up to 2,000 and adopt the "Smart Pick" service which allows customers to pick up online-ordered products from offline stores.
