Google has rolled out an improved system to detect and filter fraudulent apps in its Play Store.

Google said in a statement released through its developers' blog: "If an install is conducted with the intention to manipulate an app's placement on Google Play, our systems will detect and filter it."

In Play Store, an app's install rate is vital for its developers as higher the app gets placed in the Play Store's app rankings, it gets more chance to be selected by users, making the ranking a vital element in boosting the app's sales.

"Developers who continue to exhibit such behaviors could have their apps taken down from Google Play," Google said.

Exploiting app rankings have become a common practice nowadays, which has been used by many marketing agencies to promote their ability to raise an app's ranking in the Play Store for a small fee. Many agencies do not list whether their method is legitimate or not.
