Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone Galaxy S8 is expected to feature an artificial intelligence assistant which would provide differentiated services from rivals Google and Apple.

"Galaxy S8 will be the first platform to house an AI-based voice assistant," Samsung vice president Rhee In-jong said at a press meeting last Friday. "Its service will be totally differentiated from conventional AI assistants with advanced features."

"Next year, AI will be the center of a new revolution," Rhee said, adding that with the development of cloud network-based AI platforms, "the potential of AI voice assistant will become infinite".

Ai-based voice assistant services are now provided by Apple, Google and Amazon. Users can ask, order and share a chat, receiving simple information through a conversation-like process. Currently, only simple information like weather and road conditions are provided.

Samsung, however, has boosted its AI-developing capabilities. In early October, the company acquired a US AI platform developer,  Viv Labs, which develops an AI interface that enables to interact with devices, services, and other platforms for individuals.

Samsung has said its AI would be more advanced than ever, connected to other home appliances like TVs, washing machines and refrigerators. With a connected AI network at home, users can talk to any other appliances connected to the network. For instance, users can order a pizza by talking to a refrigerator.

In October, Samsung released "Art PC PULSE", a desktop PC with an AI voice assistant, that carries out chores given by its user through the cloud-based AI network.
