Hyundai Mobis Co., South Korea's leading auto parts producer, said Thursday that it has successfully set up a new supply system for its automaking affiliates in Europe, greatly reducing the time of delivery that will benefit millions of drivers there.

The new auto parts supply system will partially introduce what is known as just-in-time service, in which automakers and their customers will be provided with the parts they need "just in time."

The system will help reduce Hyundai Mobis' overall inventory in Europe by 20 percent, reducing its overall cost of storage and maintenance, which in turn will benefit its two automaking affiliates -- Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. -- and their European customers.

"We also expect the duration of time needed to deliver requested parts to be reduced by six days to seven from the current 13 days under the new comprehensive management system," the company said in a press release, adding such a reduction will benefit some 5.83 million European consumers who currently drive Hyundai or Kia vehicles.

"The new system will allow a stable supply of auto parts, and just when they are needed. The company will continue to do its utmost to reduce unnecessary costs while also working to boost our customer satisfaction," it said.
