Jiyai Shin, a former No.1 golfer who now plays in Japan, was selected Thursday as captain of South Korea's team for the Queens women's professional team golf tournament next month in Japan.

"By making use of my experience on different tours, I will try to score good results at this year's tournament," Shin said. The 28-year-old previously played primarily on the LPGA Tour and the LPGA of Korea Tour. In Japan, she has captured 13 victories.

The tournament will be held from December 2, contested by teams representing the tours of Japan, Korea, Australia and Europe.

The cup is played over three days with four teams of nine players each. There are 34 matches – eight four-balls day one, eight foursomes day two, and 18 singles on the final day. Three points are awarded for each win and one point for halved matches.
