Saltlux Inc., a South Korean developer of language services and big data analytics, on Wednesday unveiled its homegrown artificial intelligence software "ADAMs."
Currently, the software is capable of answering questions in the Korean language and will be able to answer questions in English next year, Saltlux said. Consisting of some 2,000 central processing units, the software has a learned knowledge equivalent to 600,000 books of structured and unstructured data.
It allows the software to answer about 20 million questions as of now, the company said.' Lee Kyung-il, chief executive of Saltlux, told reporters in Seoul that commercial services of the software will be applied to diagnosis, financial management, legal counseling and Internet of Things technology.
During a trial run on Wednesday, some technical errors were shown in the software understanding the Korean language. "If the ADAMs compares to a person, it is still an infant," Lee said. "The capability of conversation will get better if it continues machine learning, and its conversation will be more natural by next March."
On a brief quiz show with two humans during the trial run, the software won with 140 points, easily surpassing the 80 points and 20 points earned by the two humans.
Lee said the software aims to eventually compete with IBM's Watson software. Watson can answer questions in seven languages. Saltlux will launch a trial of the software starting next month and will offer its services officially starting next March.
