South Korea's presidential clinic refuted allegations about anti-ageing or skincare treatment for President Park Geun-hye despite the purchase of related medicine that sparked wild rumors.

Park was dogged by persistent rumors that she had received beauty-related treatment and shots at her residence with unauthorized supplies brought in by her arrested longtime friend Choi Soon-sil.

The official list of medicine and medical supplies purchased by Park's presidential Blue House included those used widely by plastic surgery and skin care clinics.

But Lee Sun-woo, who heads a presidential clinic, said such drugs and medical supplies had been kept as alternatives only to provide timely and quick medical services to security guards, soldiers, aides and other employees at the presidential office.

"I feel very sorry for causing public confusion and worries," he said in a press statement. "However, our clinic is not capable of doing skin care or beauty-related treatment."
