Park Bom, a member of South Korea's disbanded iconic girl group 2NE1, has expressed her regret and sadness over the group's dissolution after she was kicked out of her management agency.

The group was officially disbanded last Friday, ending a seven-year career that has contributed to South Korea's K-pop boom. YG Entertainment signed solo contracts with CL and Sandara Park but released Park Bom.

"What I can say now is that I've done my past. We've prepared, waited and anticipated to show fans various performances, but the world is just beyond my control," Park said in a handwritten letter uploaded on her social media page.

"It breaks my heart but I will treasure up the recollection of old and happy times in my heart," she said. "My heart aches so much when I think of separating from Dara, CL and Minzy."

Since their debut in 2009, the girls had been as an iconic girl group in South Korea's music scene, leading the global K-pop boom and maintaining their fame as the country's most loved artist group.

Rumors about their breakup had surfaced since they went on a hiatus from 2014 when Park was involved in a drug scandal. In 2015, CL went solo while Minzy quit and opened a dance academy.
