US ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert has put up a rare poster on his Facebook, calling for help from Korean fans in the search of the missing cat friend of his pet dog, Grigsby.

The Korean-language poster written by a US embassy official named "David (phonetic)" offers a cash reward of one million won (853 US dollars) saying Nike, a 15-year-old blue-eyed male cat, went missing on
October 23.

Nike has apparently disappeared from David's lodgings at a US army camp in Seoul. Lippert described Nike as the favorite embassy cat friend of Grigsby.

He said on his Facebook that the cat should be "somewhere" in Seoul. "Please find Nike and return Grigsby's best cat friend to him! Thank you!."

Grigsby became well known among Korean fans after a knife-wielding leftist activist attacked Lippert in March 2015, leaving him with deep gashes on his face and arm that needed more than 80 stitches. The activist was sentenced to 12 years in prison on charges of convicted murder.
