Major leaguer Kang Jung-ho, an infielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, was questioned by police Tuesday over a drunk driving accident at home.

Kang is suspected of fleeing the scene after crashing into a guardrail on his way to his hotel on Friday. He was supposed to fly back to his US camp in late January.

One of Kang's friend reported himself to the police as the car's driver. However, police said, based on the black box installed in the car, that the infielder was actually behind the wheel.

Kang's blood alcohol content was 0.084 percent, far above the legal limit of 0.05 percent. If confirmed, he could lose his license because he was arrested for drunk driving twice in August 2009 and May 2011.

"I'm very sorry to my fans," he told reporters at the entrance of a police station in southern Seoul. He allegedly told investigators that there was no collusion between him and his friend.
