South Kora's Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. said Monday it has signed an 843 million deal to build a thermal power plant in Saudi Arabia.
Doosan Heavy, a construction arm of South Korea's Doosan Group, said the plant capable of producing 1,519 megawatts of electricity would be built in a gas complex 85 kilometers (53 miles) northwest of Jubail by November 2019.
Doosan Heavy, a construction arm of South Korea's Doosan Group, said it would use its new environment-friendly CFB (circulating fluidized bed) technology to reduce pollutant emissions in building the plants.
Doosan has formed a consortium with French electric utility company Engie to win the order worth one trillion won (843 million US dollars) from Saudi Electric Co.
In October, Doosan secured a $850 million order to build two coal-fired thermal power plants in the Philippines. The company now hopes to win a 2.4 trillion won contract in India.
