South Korea's top mobile game maker Netmarble on Tuesday disclosed the acquisition of a studio owned by Kabam, a US-based game creator, in a deal estimated at up to 800 million US dollars.

It's was the largest ever acquisition in the history of South Korea's game industry, but Netmarble promised to disclose terms of the deal later.

Netmarble said the acquisition of Kabam's Vancouver studio would be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2017. Kabam's Vancouver unit is the creator of Marvel's mobile game franchise and has grossed over 450 million dollars since its launch in December 2014.

Experts suggested the deal would help Netmarble expand its business in North America. Media reports said Netmarble would also acquire Kabam's customer support teams based in Austin.

Netmarble, which started as an MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game) creator in 2000, is now the world's leading mobile game creator and publisher of popular games such as Seven Knights, Marvel Future Fight, Raven, and Everybody's Marble.
