The 20-year-old daughter of Choi Soon-sil at the center of a corruption scandal in South Korea will become a criminal wanted by Interpol. She faces repatriation if she is caught in any member countries.
Police said Tuesday that they would ask Interpol to put Choi's daughter, Chung Yoo-ra, on the wanted list, at the request of an independent counsel who has investigated the scandal engulfing President Park Geun-hye.
Chung has disappeared from her home in Germany, rejecting requests to face an interrogation in South Korea. She is suspected of receiving illegal corporate sponsorship for her equestrian education by a German trainer.
Choi was accused of siphoning off money from two public foundations created with cash donations from dozens of conglomerates. Park's aides have been arrested for their alleged role in peddling influence to collect money from businessmen.
