This is another tragic news for Carrie Fisher fans who were already saddened by her sudden death on Tuesday. A day later, Fisher's mom and actress Debbie Reynolds passed away at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles. Fisher was 60 and Reynolds was 84.

This is particularly heartbreaking as Reynolds' last tweet on Christmas day was hopeful with Fisher's recovery.

Carrie Fisher was best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars film series. Her brother, Todd, said in an interview with NBC News, a New York-based news media, "She's gone to be with Carrie. She loved taking care of her and now she's gone to be with her." The stress of Fisher's death was "too much" for Reynolds, he added.

Reynolds rose to stardom after her first leading role as Kathy Selden in "Singin' in the Rain". Her career had lasted for nearly 70 years, becoming an iconic figure in the Hollywood film industry. She had two children from her first marriage to Eddie Fisher, a famous traditional pop singer who later divorced her to marry her best friend, Elizabeth Taylor, and died in 2010.
