LG has a bad reputation for being a step late in following a global trend. This time, its new flagship smartphone, "G6", would be no different when the South Korean tech giant will use 3D glass on the flagship's back cover.
IT specialist media ETNEWS citing multiple industry sources reported that LG would release G6 early this year featuring a full 3D glass cover on its back. LG is late again because a reinforced glass back cover on smartphones is not a new gig. Probably the most iconic smartphone with the glass back is Apple's "iPhone 4" released in 2010. Samsung and other smartphone makers followed suit.
The glass back cover adds an artistic finish to smartphones and removes a small obstacle that interferes with communication abilities.
LG seems to have something hidden in its sleeve. G6 will be water resistant with IP67, a high water resistant feature, and G7 is likely to support wireless charging, a feature supported by most smartphones nowadays.
