The daughter of President Park Geun-hye's crony who played a key role in a corruption scandal has been arrested in Denmark on charges of illegal stay, police said Monday.

The National Police Agency said it has received an Interpol message about the arrest of Chung Yoo-ra and three others, including a baby, at a house in Denmark. Chung has been put on Interpol's wanted list.

The agency said it would ask Danish law enforcement authorities to repatriate Chung, who is suspected of receiving illegal corporate sponsorship for her equestrian education by a German trainer.

Chung, 21, had disappeared from her home in Germany, rejecting requests to face an interrogation in South Korea. She allegedly took undue favors from Ewha Womans University regarding admission and academic affairs by taking advantage of close ties between her mother, Cho Soon-sil, and Park.

Choi was accused of siphoning off money from two public foundations created with cash donations from dozens of conglomerates. Park's aides have been arrested for their alleged role in peddling influence to collect money from businessmen.
