Hanjin Shipping, which used to be South Korea's largest container carrier, will disappear from the center stage of corporate history this month with a court decision to shut it down.
A bankruptcy court in Seoul decided Thursday to end a rehabilitation plan, paving the way for the shipper's permanent liquidation that may come on February 17.
Hanjin, once the world's seventh-largest ocean carrier established in 1977, has sold key assets including a terminal in California since it filed for court receivership in August. The debt-stricken company has been allowed to close its European operations.
