Five doctors were slapped with a fine of 500,000 won (438 US dollars) each for posting a "certification selfie" in which they posed in front of a leg in a cadaver dissection room with their arms folded.

The picture was posted in early February by an Instagram user who participated in an anatomy dissection practice at a medical college in Seoul with a phrase reading "Saturday's workshop ... very beneficial ... stimulating."

The doctors were seen wearing scrubs and surgical masks in the picture that sparked an online public fury. The health ministry punished them for violating a medical act on "polite and courteous" handling of donated bodies. The ministry promised to revise the act so that violators could get tougher punishment.

Many South Koreans share "certification selfies" on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as an alibi to brag about their special experiences.
