Tesla's luxury electric sedan, Model S, is finally ready to make its long-awaited debut in South Korea next month about six months after it started receiving pre-orders.

A new post uploaded by Tesla Tuesday on its official website aid: "We would like to invite you to an event where we will introduce Model S, the new definition of premium performance."

The company will open two stores -- one in Starfield, a gargantuan luxury shopping mall complex in Seoul's satellite city of Hanam and the other in Seoul's affluent Gangnam District which is the heart of South Korea's financial and fashion trend.

Tesla will receive reservations for test driving online. But the company warned that because of a long waiting list, it may take some time for a consumer to actually try it.

The stores represent Tesla's full sprint to compete in South Korea's nascent EV market with Hyundai, Kia and Chevrolet. Other foreign electric car makers such as China's BYD wait for a chance to jump into the race.
