LG's G6 gained much attention from a few months before its release, since it was known to support Google's artificial intelligence assistant software. However, the US search giant is unsure when its assistant service would start supporting Korean.
"We do not exactly know when Google Assistant's Korean version will be available for G6," Google hardware division's senior vice president Rick Osterloh told Yonhap News. "Unfortunately nothing is for sure now."
Google's AI (artificial intelligence) - based assistant can carry out tasks given by users. It can engage in a verbal conversation, providing answers when needed. G6 is the first non-Google smartphone to have its assistant feature but for now, its service is only available in English and German.
LG previously showed confidence in the fast deployment of the Korean version of "Google Assistant". An LG official said this week the South Korean version would be developed "faster than other language versions," but Osterloh did not disclose anything, saying: "Google has not mentioned anything about the release dates of other language versions."
