It was one hour before midnight when a driver came across a herd of 13 renegade cows on the dead run through the rain on a highway. The shocked driver called the police and alerted them of the stampede.

Police rolled out three patrol cars to control the unexpected situation. They tried to block off the highway to stop the dangerous run but the unruly cattle ignored an order to stop and carried on with their run by moving onto the sidewalk.

The raging cattle calmed down only after their owner turned up. However, it took more than four hours to drive them to their cattle shed four kilometers (2.5 miles) away, as some tried to resume their stampede several times.

No damage or casualties were reported from the operation on February 19 near a reservoir south of Seoul, and police uploaded a video clip through Facebook.
