Over 40,000 pre-orders were made for G6 in just four days after the South Korean smartphone maker unveiled its new flagship smartphone ahead of Samsung's new phone Galaxy S8. The new LG phone will be rolled out on March 10.

While LG started receiving pre-orders through three major mobile carriers– SKT, KT and LG U+, many experts cautioned it is too early to describe G6 as success.

Firstly, a fair amount of the pre-orders tends to be canceled because many consumers change their minds while waiting to receive reserved products. Experts predict some consumers may switch to Samsung's S8.

Secondly, reviews on G6 aren't that fascinating. Some reviewers say that despite superb design, its performance isn't so great. Especially some G6s, displayed at LG stores, were found to have their system crashed due to a glitch related to its iconic AOD (Always-On-Display) feature.

Thirdly, LG's credibility has been cut low as it disappointed fans with its announcement last week that the company would no longer provide technical support and updates for previous flagships G4 and V10 released about only 18 months ago. There's no guarantee that LG wouldn't do the same for G6. Meanwhile, Samsung and Apple continue to provide technical support and updates 1for old devices.

LG offers a bundle of gifts, allowing consumers to pick an item from an LG Bluetooth headset, LG Bluetooth keyboard + mouse set and a Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee maker. Each cost around 200,000 won (172 US dollars).
