Former f(x) member Sulli, a controversial figure online, broke up with her boyfriend Choiza, a rapper of South Korea's hip-hop group Dynamic Duo, two years and seven months after they acknowledged their romance, their management agencies said Monday.
SM entertainment said that Sulli, 22, and Choiza, 36, had broken up on good terms. Choiza's agency said the couple became estranged because of their tight schedule and different lifestyle.
In August 2014, Choi Jae-ho, known professionally as Choiza, publicly acknowledged his relationship with Sulli. Since then, Sulli has been at the center of debate between haters and supporters, or cyber bullying.
For Sulli, a heated online Instagram battle has been a daily thing since she uploaded artistic images filmed by a professional photographer a year ago. Female-centered online communities claimed the images were reminiscent of cute and sexy underage girls.
Every post she uploaded has been filled with hate comments and malicious rumors. Nevertheless, she took guts to keep uploading provocative posts. The keyboard battle became fierce whenever Sulli sarcastically lashed out at the abusers.
Cyberbullying has been a serious social issue because indiscriminate online criticism sometimes led to suicide. There have been other forms of cyberbullying like coordinated hacking to leak private information.
