Popular girl group TWICE made its grand comeback with the title song "SIGNAL" but the initial reaction from fans was not so good, unlike previous hit songs.

Soon after the comeback song was released, the group's official YouTube page was bustling with fans engaged in debate. The new song with rap verses was produced in a different style from earlier songs -- "CHEER UP", "TT" and "KNOCK KNOCK".

"I've tried to listen to this song more than 10 times, but I can't feel it. Sorry tho !" a fan called Yến Hoàng commented on TWICE's YouTube page. Ara Kim, another YouTuber, said, "Wow this is terrible. Their only song i don't like."

Other fans supported the group for experimenting something new. "Haha I really like this concept tbh. i also like the song a lot. I don't understand where the hate is coming from but it doesn't matter since (there are ) lots of people who really enjoy listening to this song," Cthulwho said.

Fans were clearly divided in YouTube's like & dislike rates. The new track received the highest rate of dislikes among TWICE's hit songs with 22 percent, higher than "KNOCK KNOCK"'s 21 percent. The group's most popular track "TT" had a dislike rate of 16 percent.

The split preference of TWICE's song was reflected on South Korea's major online music services. While "SIGNAL" topped the real-time charts of Naver and Melon, it stayed at the fourth place in Monkey3.
