LG Electronics, South Korea's second-largest smartphone maker, is well known for the experimental design of smartphones. A series of leaked concept images about LG's purported new flagship, "V30", show another daring design with sliding body and a hidden second display.
"This is an old-ish mockup of Project Joan, a.k.a. the LG V30," described a Twitter user Evan Blass, a well-known IT specialist for his accurate predictions on to-be-released smart devices and leaked information. The concept smartphone with a sleek design had an LG logo and the company's iconic second display on its bottom.
According to Blass, the body of V30 has a sliding feature, like the once-trendy mobile phones in the early 2000s. When the upper part is pushed upwards, it reveals a second display, allowing users to have quick access to apps.
Blass suggested the second screen can be used as a keyboard or other app-optimized touch bars. The prototype V30 in the image also had a three-lens camera but the IT specialist did not give details.
Blass noted he's not sure whether LG is "still headed in this direction". Previously, LG had released experimental smartphones such as the Vu series with 1:1 ratio display and G5 with switchable specialized modules -- camera and audio.
