LG has finally decided to move from LCD to OLED displays for new flagship smartphones, an IT specialist media reported.
LG Electronics will adopt OLED displays for V30 and G7, Digital Times reported Thursday, adding LG Display would start producing 15,000 OLED panels for smartphones every month in June.
OLED's production cost is much higher than LCD's but users prefer OLED displays because of their wider color reproduction range and more vibrant colors. The OLED display is bendable and ideal for smartphones with a rounded edge. Experts predict V30 and G7 will have a rounded edge.
