LG to release budget phone with largest battery capacity

LG Electronics will release X500, a budget smartphone with South Kora's largest battery capacity this week, targeting consumers who look for affordable phones. priced at 319,000 won (285 US dollars).  

Last year, the company released a lineup of specialized budget phones. Each had a unique feature such as a large battery capacity (X POWER), a dual display (X SCREEN) and a dual camera (X CAM). The budget lineup was priced at around 300,000 won (268 US dollars).

LG's X500, priced at 319,000 won, is the successor of X POWER, one of the most loved models from the X lineup.  It features a 4,500mAh battery, 32GB of internal storage and high-definition DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), a mobile TV service available in South Korea. LG did not elaborate on other specs of the new product that would be release at home on Friday.

"This is the ideal phone for salespeople or for those who move around and make a lot of calls," said Silent.I, a user from South Korea's IT community Clien. Another user, KimNam, said: "If X500 comes with a good camera, I would ask for nothing more. It would be perfect!"

Along with expensive high-performance smartphones, LG and others have released budget smartphone lineups to capture the niche market., targeting consumers who look for affordable phones.
