"The Frame", a new concept TV produced by Samsung Electronics, made its domestic debut with two models using quantum dot light emitting diode (QLED) display technologies which provide clearer and brighter images than conventional ones.

The 55-inch QLED model was priced at 3.44 million won (3,039 US dollars) and the 65-inch TV at 5.15 million won. The Frame is the backbone of Samsung's new lineup of premium TVs.

The Frame using an optical cable can be hung virtually anywhere and blend into the surrounding space free of cables and wires. It shows a series of landscape, drawings and other images, disguising itself as an art fixture when it's on display with other art pieces. Customers can enjoy 100 paintings and photographs from 37 artists, purchase additional artworks, and display their own photos with a customized the bezel.

In an earlier statement, Yves Behar, a famous industrial designer, said he has thought of a TV set "beautiful as an art piece even when it is not watched". The Frame competes with LG's "Signature OLED TV W", the 0.15 inch thin, 65-inch "Wallpaper TV".
