Female singer-songwriter and rapper Heize gained sudden popularity in South Korea's highly competitive music market, grabbing the crown in major music services with her new track "Don't know you", warding off strong contenders such as Apink, MAMAMOO and BLACKPINK.

Her rise underlines the growing popularity of hip-hop music in South Korea.

"Thank you everyone, really," the 25-year-old said in a message via her Instagram after scoring an all-kill in the real-time charts including Naver, Melon and Genie. "Don't know you" is the title track of her new album "You, Clouds, Rain", which was released on Monday.

"Because it's raining, You can listen to the hidden track of the album soon. I really, really love you guys," Heize wrote on her Instagram. The singer previously promised fans that she would release a hidden track if rain comes and Heize kept her promise by releasing the track "You, Clouds, Rain" onto YouTube on the midnight of Tuesday.

The hip-hop singer gained public attention in 2015 when she appeared in "Unpretty Rapstar", a popular cable TV audition program. She has released a series of single albums since 2014, but the latest album is the first to receive true attention.
