Samsung has been releasing smaller versions of its flagship smartphones under the name of "Mini" and rumors suggest the South Korean tech giant is preparing to launch a smaller brother of Galaxy S8, the company's latest flagship, at home.
IThome, a Chinese IT specialist media, reported about the rumor on Monday and suggested the alleged "Galaxy S8 Mini" will be released in South Korea with a 5.3-inch screen. The original S8 and its larger version S8+ have 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch dual edge screens.
The Chinese media also added that the mini version of S8 will come with a Snapdragon 8921 processor, a generation behind when compared to those of larger S8 series. However, key features such as iris recognition are likely to stay.
