Woman finds a man living in her attic after hearing noises

Can you imagine constantly hearing unidentifiable noises when you are home by yourself at night? A woman living in Arlington, Virginia heard noises coming from her attic in the middle of the night. She contacted her landlord to check as he sometimes "used the storage above". The concerned landlord contacted the local authorities immediately. 

After receiving the call around 1:30 am, Arlington County officers responded to the house. They searched the attic and found a 60-year-old homeless man, Anthony Jones, living in the space.

Arlington Police Department spokesperson Ashley Savage said in a statement, "As we were coming up that staircase, they announced that officers were on scene and that if you were in the attic, to come forward." Jones complied with the officers and was taken into custody without resistance. 

Officers found his backpack, clothing, and bedding in the attic. However, it is unknown how long Jones has been living there.

Jones was charged with unlawful entry and being held without bail.

The woman living in the house said because police officers responded quickly, this incident made her feel "much safer". 

Savage also advised the home owners to contact the local authorities immediately if they hear noises or believe someone broke into their home. She said, "We will come and investigate. Don't put yourself in harm's way."

Arlington, Virginia is the second largest principal city of the Washington metropolitan area and is one of the highest income counties in the United States. It has the highest concentration of single-person households. It has been historically and geologically important and central region in the country.
