South Korean President Moon Jae-in ruled out any independent US military action against North Korea saying he would do his best to prevent a second war on the Korean peninsula.

"I confidently say that there will be no more war on the peninsula," Moon said in a press conference marking the 100th day of his inauguration. "No one can decide military action on the Korean peninsula without our consent."

Trump agreed to consult with Seoul on any military action against North Korea even outside the Korean peninsula, Moon said, urging North Korean leader Kim Jong-un not to cross the so-called "red line" by deploying a "weaponized" intercontinental ballistic missile mounted with nuclear weapons.

Moon said there's no difference in the basic position of Washington and Seoul which aim to draw Pyongyang back to the dialogue table through strong sanctions and pressure.

Pyongyang is getting closer to the critical point, he said, adding any further provocations could send a dangerous signal that it was crossing the red line.  South Korea has accused North Korea of reaching a critical point of the red line with a series of missile tests, including two ICBM tests.
