Prosecutors are investigating a cyber attack on a South Korean online Bitcoin exchange after finding traces that hackers have used a job application letter infected with malicious codes to break into an employee's computer

The prosecutors said Thursday in a statement that hackers took control of Bithumb, the world's fifth largest online digital currency exchange system, via an email containing the infected job application letter.

Personal information of about 31,800 users was leaked, but the digital currency exchange rejected claims by some users that Bitcoins disappeared from their accounts. The prosecutors are trying to find out if the hackers used personal information including phone numbers and addresses in other crimes such as voice phishing.
