President Moon Jae-in was set to meet with the chairman of the U.S. House foreign relations committee Monday, officials from the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said, for discussions on various issues that will likely include North Korea's missile provocations and nuclear ambitions.

Ed Royce (R-CA) will be accompanied by four other U.S. representatives in his meeting with the South Korean leader that will be held at Cheong Wa Dae starting at 11 a.m.

The South Korean trip by the U.S. lawmakers follows a series of missile provocations from the communist North, including two missile launches in July that involved claimed intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Pyongyang also fired what appeared to be short-range missiles Saturday in an apparent protest against an ongoing joint exercise of South Korean and U.S. forces, called the Ulchi Freedom Guardian.

The reclusive state periodically accuses the annual joint defense drill as a rehearsal for an invasion of the North.

The South Korean president has said his country and its U.S. ally do not have any intention to attack the North.
