A story of an extremely possessive boyfriend shocked a Korean community when the story aired on MBN, a Korean TV channel.

On the TV show called 'Astonishing Stories: Real Situation' featured a story of a boyfriend who was intensely possessive of his girlfriend that led him to make a horrifying decision.

A woman who was a yoga instructor was introduced to a man who worked as a fund manager. They fell in love and promised to get married. Soon after the couple started living together and everything seemed perfect. However, the boyfriend started expressing his jealousy more and more.

Whenever she talked to other men or smiled at her friends, he would get extremely angry and began verbally and physically abusing her. She was getting overpowered by him and started to fear him.

However, he did not stop there. One day when he saw his girlfriend smiling at a security guard of the apartment they were living together, he exploded and cut her shirt open with a pair of scissors. He then started tattooing her body with phrases: "I will only love [boyfriend's name] until death", "I will never be touched by another man", "I will never smile at other men", "I will never be late for my 8 pm curfew", and other phrases to brand her as his.

She was forced to oblige him not only because he physically overpowered her but also because he threatened to disseminate the photos of her naked body online.

The woman's mother eventually found out what happened to her daughter and notified the authorities to have the boyfriend arrested on various counts of abuses and bodily harm.

Even after the arrest and getting charged, the man did not apologize and got even angrier at his girlfriend. As he was getting taken away, he threatened her and said, "How dare you locking me behind the bars? I will not leave you alone when I get out."

The viewers of the show were horrified to watch the reenactment of what happened and the story went viral on social media within the Korean community. The majority of people expressed their concerns on how the girlfriend will live on with the tattoos and the trauma she had to endure.

Currently, the cases of boyfriends assaulting their girlfriends are on the rise in Korea and the Korean authorities began a campaign to bring awareness to this social issue that had been overlooked for many decades.
