Samsung is ready for a battle of promotions with its domestic rival LG to attract consumers with their latest flagship smartphones -- "Galaxy Note 8" and "V30".
Samsung will receive pre-orders for its latest phablet Note 8 from Thursday. The smartphone maker said Wednesday that the 64GB model of Note 8 will come with a price tag of 1,094,500 won, (1,712 US dollars) and the 256GB model will be sold for 1,254,000 won, the highest of all Note series.
Consumers will be given special gifts such as a Harman AKG Bluetooth speaker, a new Gear VR headset and a battery pack set. Samsung said it would receive pre-orders until September 14.
For its part, LG launched a nationwide offline promotion event through experience zones set up at 13 places in five major cities. Also, V30s will be displayed at about 3,000 LG stores. LG will receive pre-orders from September 14 with gift package including "DayDream VR", the latest VR headset created by Google.
The exact price was not known but IT communities believe V30 will be sold for around 900,000 won, about 100,000 won cheaper than Note 8.
